Welcome to the Bluegrass Group

The Bluegrass Group is the local affiliate of the Sierra Club in Central Kentucky, sponsoring activities to inform Sierra Club members and the general public about local, regional, state, and national environmental issues. We provide many opportunities to meet, greet and talk about issues and environmental activism (see the Get Involved page), as well as get outdoors to experience what Kentucky has to offer.

'Red Oaks' Mission & Programs

Fostering healthy communities and planet through nature-based education, exploration, and play: an overview of Red Oaks mission and programs in Eastern and Central Kentucky.

Red Oaks Forest School is committed to building a pipeline of programming that fosters health, wellness, and environmental literacy and builds a deep and lasting connection to nature and community. Red Oaks has spent the last 10 years working through different approaches to build community connections and foster wonder and compassion for Kentucky's rich natural heritage. 

Tina Brouwer Kraska is especially interested in ecology and how all things are connected. When her daughter was young, she found herself reconnecting with her educational roots. She founded Red Oaks Forest School with some friends, and her journey to share her passion for the natural world to people of Central and Eastern Kentucky officially began.
