MOUNTAIN FILM FESTIVAL - 5:30-11:00
at the Kentucky Theatre, Main St., Downtown Lexington
Come see an an assortment of movies centered around the Appapachians, its culture, and its ties to our energy future. We will be showing 4-5 films and cost is only $5 donation.

October 17-19 (Friday-Sunday) Car Camping/Dayhike: Cumberland Gap National Park and Hensley Settlement, Middlesboro, KY
Travel to Middlesboro, KY Friday evening and set up camp. Saturday and Sunday morning hike the Cumberland Gap trail in Daniel Boone's footsteps. We will visit the historic Hensley Settlement Pioneer Village and explore the visitor's center. This outing is along the historic "Wilderness Road", overlooking KY, VA and TN. Suitable for beginners, limit 12.

October 18 (Saturday)
Conservation Outing: Portal 31 Coal Mine, Benham, KY (southeastern Ky.)
We'll tour Portal 31, a formerly active coal mine which is scheduled to be opened this year, by rail car. We'll then visit the Kentucky Coal Mining Museum, located in an old company store. We can stay the night at the Benham School House Inn. An admission fee is charged for these activities. Rating: Easy, suitable for beginners.
