Highlands Group

The Highlands Group was founded to serve members in the Ashland - eastern Kentucky area and is comprised of the following counties: Boyd, Carter, Elliott, Greenup, Johnson, Lawrence, Lewis, Martin, and Rowan.

Over the years, members have been active on various issues in the area, promoting environmental activism in the mountains and taking part in projects such as trail maintenance on the Jesse Stuart Trail.

Although the Sierra Club has members in this area, those who founded the Group and provided its leadership have moved on. If you and several of your friends would like to revive this Group, contact our Chapter Chair for details and assistance.
