FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contacts: Sierra Club Endorses John Yarmuth [Louisville, KY] The Cumberland Chapter of the Sierra Club announced its endorsement of John Yarmuth in the 3rd District Congressional race. ”We are very pleased to announce today that the Sierra Club officially endorses Congressman John Yarmuth for re-election,” said Rick Clewett, Chapter Political Chair. “We are confident that he will continue work to protect Kentucky's environment, for our families and our future.” ”He has taken an aggressive stand to protect Kentucky's environment by sponsoring the Clean Water Protection Act (HR 2169) and supporting the extension and expansion of tax credits for alternative energy in the comprehensive energy package (HR 6),” said Ray Barry, Cumberland Chapter Chair. ”We are deeply grateful to John Yarmuth. He is a true environmental champion who not only votes correctly on environmental issues, but also leads the fight to protect Kentucky's clean air, clean water and natural beauty.” Along with the endorsement, the Sierra Club will lend its volunteer strength to Yarmuth’s campaign. ”We will do all we can to ensure that Representative Yarmuth is re-elected,” said Ray Barry. “Sierra Club volunteers will contact voters on his behalf and we will speak to the public as often as possible about his exemplary environmental record.
