Want to learn more about the Sierra Club in a relaxed party setting? Join us at 7:30 pm for a Bluegrass Group Open House graciously hosted by group members. We have three open houses yearly (January, May, September). This is an opportunity to learn more about our local group in an informal setting. Everyone is welcome, current members as well as those who are just curious to learn more. Refreshments are provided. Watch the Cumberland for location details.

Hike Ken Mathis’ farm where we will view conservation practices that promote wildlife habitate. This hike will highlight the actions of a sound land steward.

Rating: Moderate, 4 miles. Route consists of walk through woods and field with some inclines. Suitable for beginners.

The Gorge takes on a different personality in winter. The foliage disappears to reveal geological formations dusted with snow. Waterfalls are frozen in time and a more tranquil mood prevails. The route will depend upon winter conditions and group experience. A strenuous backpack for the well-conditioned and experienced.

Come join with the Kentucky State Nature Preserve Commission to help with burning cedar trees to provide more open area for one of our state's Federally Endandered Species, Short's Goldenrod. This is always a fun way to spend a winter afternoon outside and keep warm at the same time.

Rating: Easy; suitable for beginners
