Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area Oneida, TN |

| This trail offers a great balance of canyons, streams, sheer cliffs and valleys with several fairly good climbs. It is one the those trails where just about the time you think things are getting routine, some incredible work of nature comes into view. I am requesting no watches, telephones, those things that tell you where you are and similar “stuff”. You should be an experienced backpacker in good condition.
Rating: Strenuous, 45-50 miles depending on weather; limit 6 participants. |

Martha & Darren Payne (859) 498-5894 Assistant Leader: |
Henderson, KY | Moderate to Strenuous |
| This year’s service project finds us at John James Audubon State Park in Henderson. We will be pulling the invasive garlic mustard plant. Julie McDonald, park naturalist, will assist us in identifying the plant.
We will have campsites reserved for us. Your leaders will cook Saturday night dinner (small fee/donation is requested) as you relax, enjoy good company and conversation. We may have time to explore the preserve and surrounding park. The nature preserve comprises 338 acres in the state park which was originally set aside as a bird sanctuary and memorial to the naturalist John James Audubon and offers a chance to explore the peaceful woods Audubon walked as he studied the subjects of his paintings. Situated along the banks of the Ohio River, the area boasts rich displays of wildflowers and bluffs overlooking the river. The park also houses the world’s largest collection of Audubon’s art and offers exhibits on the artist’s life. Coinciding with our weekend stay will be a special exhibit entitled “The Beauty of Audubon” which features scenes of the park by featured artists. Come join us for a weekend of satisfying work as well as an opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of the area! Rating: Moderate to strenuous, suitable for beginners; work at your own pace |
