Yahoo Falls Loop,
Big South Fork National Recreation Area,
Stearns, KY
Strenuous
Yahoo Falls is the highest waterfall in the Commonwealth of Kentucky! Come along as we explore the 3 day, 2 night Yahoo Falls Loop Trail. This area is one of the most scenic in the region! This year we are changing up the camping spots, spending one night in the deep woods and one night in a trailside shelter that overlooks the Cumberland River. The river is back to its normal state since the lowering of Lake Cumberland, with all its rapids and boulders in view. In 2007 we saw a mature bald eagle flying over the river during our lunch break on Saturday!

Rating: Moderate; Participants must have backpacking experience and suitable backpacking equipment such as cold weather clothing and sleeping bag, pack, shelter, ground pad, cooking gear and mess kit, first aid kit, rain gear, flashlight, water filter and canteen/water bottles (the lighter the better).
