Knott/Letcher/Perry County, KY Moderate

We will be planting tree seedlings on a former strip mining site under the auspices of The Head of Three Rivers Project and with help from Patrick Angel from the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement and foresters with the Kentucky Division of Forestry.  Volunteers from several other organizations will also be participating.

Trees and equipment will be provided for the project, and there will be supervisors available to offer instructions and guidance. This project is a positive and proactive effort to mitigate bad reclamation and begin turning desolate strip mining areas into forests. This is a great opportunity to participate in a pilot project that might lead to green jobs in the future.

Details about location, housing on Friday night, and meals will be provided at a later date.
