Kentucky Sierra Club outings and outdoor adventure program participation
Make New Friends!
The Cumberland Chapter's Outings programs provides opportunities for you to experience and learn about our natural and wilderness areas, to find personal fulfillment through these activities and to make new friends.
How to Get Started
Getting started is easy! Just take a look at the outing calendar, pick out a trip you'd like to join, then contact the leader listed for that outing - they'll let you know if there's any paperwork to complete, gear you should bring, etc.
Liability Waivers
In order to participate on one of the Sierra Club's outings, you will need to sign a liability waiver. If you would like to read a copy of the waiver prior to the outing, please see our forms page.
Carpooling
In the interests of facilitating the logistics of some outings, it is customary that participants make carpooling arrangements. The Sierra Club does not have insurance for carpooling arrangements and assumes no liability for them. Carpooling, ride sharing or anything similar is strictly a private arrangement among the participants. Participants assume the risks associated with this travel.
Sierra Club Outings are Open to Everybody!
All outings programs are open to Sierra Club members as well as the general public. Children under the age of 18 are welcome when accompanied by a parent or guardian on most outings, since outings provide an opportunity for children to experience the wilderness ethic.
Levels of Difficulty - Find a Good Fit
Because outings vary as to required experience, skills and physical strength, it is advisable to check with your outing leader to determine if a particular outing is appropriate for your or your children. An outing leader's approval is required for all participants in an outing under his or her supervision. An outing leader may, on occasion, deny an individual's request to participate in an outing activity. In such an event, the outing leader will recommend other outings which are more appropriate to the skills and experience of the individual involved.
