Ratings
All Cumberland Chapter outings are rated on a three point scale which indicates the level of difficulty involved: easy, moderate or strenuous. Do not hesitate to participate in any activity, but you must be honest with your outing leader about the abilities and skills of you and your family. The rating categories for hiking trips follow these GENERAL GUIDELINES.

Rating Length Elevation
Easy Less than 4 miles per day Less than 1,000 feet
Moderate 4-7 miles per day 1,000 - 2,500 feet
Strenuous Greater than 7 miles per day Greater than 2,500 feet
Exploratory Not Scouted
Fees
For Sierra Club members a charge of one dollar ($1.00) per outing per day per person will be assessed to defray the administrative and advertising cost of the outing program. For non-members, this charge will be two dollars ($2.00) per outing per day per person. These fees may be waived for educational classes and public service outings.
